The Equality Talks series is dedicated to exploring innovative solutions to inequalities worldwide, with a focus on creating a more inclusive future. Through insightful conversations with our partners, we examine the challenges they face and the ways they promote social and economic opportunities. Our goal is to highlight their efforts in building and maintaining relationships across the wealth divide, and to showcase the positive impact they have achieved and strive for in the future.
In the fourth episode of the Equality Talks series, Andrea Mendez, Director of Forge Foundation Mexico, discusses the organisation's pioneering efforts to reduce wealth inequality among young people in the country. She focuses on the “Tu Futuro” programme, which empowers Mexican youths from low-income backgrounds to gain access to a better quality life through work, on-going learning and community engagement.
Many young people in Mexico struggle to join the labour market due to limited access to resources and opportunities. The “Tu Futuro” programme tackles this challenge by providing students in their final year of high school with training in essential skills, including socio-emotional competencies and technical abilities. Additionally, Forge Foundation offers guidance, networking opportunities, and job placement support, enabling these young individuals to secure formal employment and improve prospects.
Through initiatives like Tu Futuro, Forge Foundation is working towards a more equitable society, where social mobility is not determined by socioeconomic background, gender, or ethnicity. To discover more about their impactful work and the difference they are making in the lives of young people, please watch the video below.
