The Equality Talks series is dedicated to exploring innovative solutions to inequalities worldwide, with a focus on creating a more inclusive future. Through insightful conversations with our partners, we examine the challenges they face and the ways they promote social and economic opportunities. Our goal is to highlight their efforts in building and maintaining relationships across the wealth divide, and to showcase the positive impact they have achieved and strive for in the future.
In the third episode of this year’s Equality Talks series, Vicheka Chourp, Chief Executive of ISF Cambodia, explains how their holistic approach enables children from underserved families to integrate into Cambodia’s public school system.. Notably, 49 per cent of Cambodian children are affected by extreme poverty, with only 5 per cent from marginalised families going on to graduate from secondary school. As Vicheka notes, "Young people who attended university with the support of ISF Cambodia's education programme earn six times more than their parents or families".
This achievement is a testament to the effectiveness of ISF's Education Programme, which supports 700 students annually, providing mentorship, healthcare, and essential resources. To learn more about ISF Cambodia's inspiring work and the tangible difference they make in the lives of marginalised young people, watch the video below.
