The Wealth Inequality Initiative is pleased to announce its new partnership with the Confluentes initiative, led by the Instituto Betty e Jacob Lafer in Brazil.

Brazil has long struggled with staggering wealth disparities, as reflected by its high Gini coefficient (48.9). Recognizing the need for comprehensive action, Inês Mindlin Lafer and her team at the Instituto understood that mobilizing smaller contributions strategically could be just as impactful as large-scale philanthropy.

Enter the Confluentes initiative, which enables upper-middle class professionals to become philanthropists by curating a portfolio of NGOs that benefit from a shared pool of donations. By making strategic philanthropic choices on behalf of donors, Confluentes ensures that contributions have a significant and tangible impact. Currently, the initiative has mobilized 81 donors and raised over 1.1 million Brazilian reais, supporting transformative partners like Redes Cordiais and the Kanindé Association of Ethno-Environmental Protection. Moreover, Confluentes fosters connections among donors, changemakers, NGOs, politicians, and philanthropists, creating a powerful network that amplifies their collective influence. This democratization of philanthropy lies at the core of Confluentes' mission.

Confluentes' commitments align optimally with the objectives of the Wealth Inequality Initiative. By facilitating connections between donors and implementors, this partnership advances our mission of fostering exchange and collaboration between individuals from different wealth spectrums, all while combating global inequality. With its strong presence in Brazil, Confluentes will be instrumental in generating interest, disseminating knowledge, mobilizing stakeholders, and driving action against wealth inequality in the country.
