TAWAH Vocational Centre for Women

Milestone achieved

Tawah vocational centre

Imagine a center built by women, for women. The TAWAH vocational centre is not only a place of learning, but also a hub of empowerment that will shape futures, transform lives, and bridge the wealth inequality gap. It will offer comprehensive training in housing construction and brick-making as well as short-courses on marketing and finances, providing valuable skills for the women of Mhaga to access employment and engage in entrepreneurial activities. Moreover, it will serve as a space to foster collaboration with international organizations and institutions, amplifying its impact far beyond the village's boundaries.

We were honored to have several esteemed guests at the ceremony, including Tanzania's Deputy Minister of Social Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups, Hon, Mwanaidi Ali Khamisi, Dr. Nathalie Jean-Baptiste, representing the Julius Baer Foundation flew to Tanzania for the occasion. Mr. Anthony Acheampong EU expert evaluator from Ghana also joined the ceremony, along with the District Administrative Secretary, who attended on behalf of the District Commissioner. The acting District Executive Director and village leaders rounded out the official list of official attendees. Al guests brought immeasurable joy and added to the spirit of celebration.

This incredible milestone was made possible through the Wealth Inequality Initiative led by the Julius Baer Foundation. It serves as a shining example of how collective action can drive tangible change in our society. We are immensely proud to share this accomplishment with you, knowing that together we are making a significant impact on reducing the wealth inequality gap.

Tanzania Women Architects for Humanity (TAWAH) is an inspiring NGO founded in 2011 by Tanzanian women architects and engineers. Their unwavering commitment to improving housing options for Tanzania's most vulnerable populations, including women, the elderly, and people with disabilities, is truly commendable. Through their work, they empower women with valuable skills and foster thriving sustainable housing businesses.
